Walcott Denison IV is a software developer based out of Pittsburgh, PA as the logos below would suggest. In creating a logo for Walcott, he had requested something industrial that communicated he worked in tech. Like the majority of industrial design, the logos are monochromatic. I partnered complimentary fonts where one is more ornamental and acts as a display font while the other is more legible. One of industrial designs key elements is the use of subtext. For Walcott’s, this would be “Software Development” or “Pittsburgh PA.”
In creating this logo, I learned quite a few tricks in Adobe Illustrator. There are options inside of the effect panel to generate shapes mathematically rather than needing to draw them. I used this in the cog shape as well as in the text to create an aged appearance.
